BIO BUBBLE restrictions have been followed for 2 years after the COVID-19 pandemic started. Here is the good news for Indian and South African cricket teams. As the COVID-19 restrictions are coming to an end now, BCCI has decided to remove BIO-BUBBLE restrictions for the Indian cricket team after a gap of two long years. After 2 months of IPL, BCCI has shifted its focus to international cricket.

According to the latest news, the bio-bubble for IPL-2022 was the last. From the India vs South Africa series onwards, players will be tested (for Covid), but there will not be any bio-bubble by ensuring to allow audience 100% attendance, across all venues.

Also, a senior official of DDCA told that the restrictions of COVID-19 including Bio Bubble are going to be removed from the upcoming first T20 match on June 9th, 2022.

Recently, Sunday’s IPL final in Ahmedabad on 29th May 2022 witnessed the biggest crowd at a cricket match in India, with a record of 1,04,859 audience capacity. This is because India’s decreasing number of active Covid-19 cases has led to the easing of restrictions. Recently, the country recorded 2745 active cases on May 31st, 2022 whereas compared to the corresponding numbers for the same date (May 31st ) in 2021 there were 127,510 cases.

Also, the ticket booking for this series started on June 1st, 2022 and according to the reports, there has been a very high demand for the match tickets after a long time.

Most cricket boards around the world have moved on from strict bio bubble measures to managed environments, with minimal limitations. Recently, Bangladesh’s current home Test series against Sri Lanka was held without any bubble restrictions. In forthcoming England vs New Zealand International Test series, starting June 2nd, 2022 at Lord’s, the match will be hosted on the same guidelines.

This T20I series will mark the first time since the pandemic that the BCCI has selected to spread multiple venues for the same series and players will have to travel across five different venues – New Delhi, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, and Bengaluru for 12 days.

BCCI wants the entire Indian squad to prove their fitness before the series. The Indian board has asked the KL Rahul-led squad to appear for a fitness test at the NCA by June 5th, 2022 ahead of the five-match T20 series against South Africa.

The 18-member India squad will now assemble at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on or by June 5 after their IPL 2022 duties. They have to undergo a mandatory fitness test with the NCA director VVS Laxman managing the proceedings.

After the fitness test, they will head from Bengaluru to Delhi on June 7 to prepare for the 1st T20I being held on June 9th, 2022. Rahul Dravid will be the Indian team coach with the squad for South Africa series.

The change in restrictions also means that player activity in and out of the hotels and stadium would not be restricted. At the same time, everyone has been instructed to remain careful and avoid large meetings, as far as possible. It is understood that Covid-19 tests will only be carried out if an individual player reports symptoms, as against the procedure of routine testing before.

On June 16th, 2022 the second phase of the Indian team will leave for the Test series in England. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer are also part of the Test team. All three will leave directly from Bangalore to London after the last T20 on June 19.

KL Rahul has been made the Indian cricket team captain while Rishabh Pant is the vice-captain. Similarly, fast bowlers Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh are the new faces on the team.
