Heavy Rain Fall in India Continues: Recently, many states across India have been witnessing heavy rain showers, and is expected to continue further in the upcoming days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the massive wind speed was at its peak stage with a speed of 45 to 55 Kmph.

Heavy rainfalls are expected to occur in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, north- Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, etc.

There is also a higher chance of severe floods occurring in these states.

Especially, Mumbai has a higher chance to witness heavy rainfall in the coming days.

These are the problems faced by many citizens of our country across different states:

1. Several trees were crushed and most of the houses were destructed leading to the loss of many lives due to these heavy rainfalls.

2. Many farmers’ harvested crops that were being produced due to their hard work and dedication are being disturbed.

3. Frequent power cuts have been observed in many rural and urban areas throughout the country.

4. Fisherman are finding it difficult across the coastal areas to fishing

5. Road Conditions are becoming poor which becomes difficult for people to travel.

Three types of Alerts have been categorized depending on the type of rainfall according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD):

  1. Red Alert– For Heavy Rainfall above 20 cm
  2. Orange Alert- For Heavy Rainfall below 20 cm and above 6 cm
  3. Yellow Alert- For Heavy Rainfall below 11 cm and above 6 cm

Red Alert: Heavy Rain Fall in India Continues?

After seeing the present monsoon situation in our country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert to the following areas:

1. Districts of Kalahandi and Rayagada.

2. Districts of Adilabad, Mancherial, Asifabad, Jagtiyal, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Bhupalpally, Pedapally, and Mulugu.

3. Odisha, Telangana, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Western Maharashtra, and north-Telangana.

4. The parts of Western Maharashtra on Red Alert include Pune, Satara, Ratnagiri, and Raigad.

Yellow Alert: Heavy Rain Fall in India Continues?

Also, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert to the following areas:

1. Districts of Nizamabad, Warangal ( both Rural and Urban), Khammam, Mahabubabad, Sirsilla.

Orange Alert: Heavy Rain Fall in India Continues?

The Orange Alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) :

1. Districts of Kerela such as Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Kannur

2. Bidar, Yadgir, Raichur, Vijayapura, Haveri, Dharwad, and northern parts of Karnataka.

3. Nagpur, Bandra, Vardha, and Chandrapur.

Due to heavy rains, many schools and colleges have been declared an official holiday as well as planned to change the timings. It is expected that these heavy rain showers will continue during the upcoming days in many states across India.

It is advisable for people to stay safe inside their house along with their family and children for a few days and need not travel frequently outside unless required.

Also, keep the windows and doors closed during heavy rains and by following proper indoor shelters.

While driving the vehicle during heavy rains, make sure not to increase the vehicle speed to avoid accidents and to reach home safely.

It is important to remember, not to travel on flights during heavy monsoons.
