Team India after achieving a brilliant 208-6 in 20 overs of the first innings, failed to defend the target as Australia was successful in scoring 211-6 in 19.2 Overs with four balls to spare.

Australia won the toss and decided to field first was initially not able to face the strong Indian batting line-up. Indian opening batsman KL Rahul (55 runs from 35 balls- including 4 fours and 3 sixes) and Suryakumar Yadav (46 runs from 25 balls -including 2 fours and 4 sixes) gave India a good start even after the fall of top performing batsman’s wickets such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Dinesh Karthik.

Team India’s poor bowling and fielding performance along with many dropped catches resulted in losing their 1st T20I match against Australia as well as the Asia Cup 2022 Tournament.

It was unexpected that top-performing bowlers such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 52 runs in 4 overs without even taking a single wicket of the Australian batsmen, whereas Yuzvendra Chahal took only a single wicket by conceding 42 runs in 3.2 overs.

Also, the Young bowler Harshal Patel conceded 49 runs in 4 overs without taking a single wicket.

With less than a month remaining for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, the Indian team has to concentrate more on their bowling performance and if the bowlers in a team are unable to defend a target of more than 170 runs in 20 overs, they are not considered as the best bowlers in the world.

The same situation happened with Team India in Asia Cup 2022 Super-Four Matches which resulted in Team India not qualifying for the finals of that tournament.

If Team India wouldn’t improve in their bowling performance, then it would be a tough time for the entire team to be faced in the upcoming big tournaments such as ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and ICC World Cup 2023.

Also, the Indian team must concentrate to improve on their fielding aspects as a lot of dropped catches and misfielding are turning out to be a favorable moment for the opposition team batsmen to score high runs and win matches against India.
